Acacia Gum

Acacia Gum comes from an exudation of Acacia trees after the incision of their stems and branches. As a highly-safe additive used for many centuries, acacia gum offers numerous functional properties and is today found in thousands of day-to-day products. From ancient usages in Ancient Egypt to today’s use in sodas, the story of acacia gum is remarkable.

The outstanding properties of acacia gum have made it a reliable ingredient widely used in the food industry, but also in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and technical industries. Acacia gum is appreciated for its functional properties, but also because it is in line with consumers’ expectations: 100% plant-based, GMO free, pesticide free, gluten free, odorless, colorless and very low in calories.

 

Acacia gum is sourced in the “Gum belt”, which is located in Africa, in the south of the Sahel. From Senegal to Erythrea, the harvest zone covers countries like Mali, Nigeria, Chad, Niger, Sudan, Etiopia. The gum harvest provides a revenue to millions of people in this region.
