BEYOND ACACIA®

Alland & Robert’s new Beyond Acacia® range is the fruit of over two years of research and development, with the aim of meeting market expectations and combining environmental exemplarity with technological excellence. The Beyond Acacia® range brings high-density granulometry to the table, enabling the creation of an innovative and sustainable range of gums.

This new range also showcases Alland & Robert’s commitments to the environment: The transformation used to make high-density granules produces a much lower volume of carbon emissions. The Beyond Acacia® range enables direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced by 51.1% (scopes 1 + 2), and a reduction by 13.5% of emissions upstream and downstream in the value chain (scope 3).

The Beyond Acacia® range’s improved solubility and dispersion capacity enables a reduction in energy use during the end user’s industrial process, as their production phase will require less time and energy to complete. The granules dissolve completely without being heated, even at high levels of concentration. The range new granularity ensures excellent hydration properties (superior to those of a standard gum), which maximize the efficiency of the dispersion process. The occurrence of foam during this process is reduced, as are quantities of particles, which also improves fluidity and reduces the occurrence of lumps. With Beyond Acacia®, the volume of acacia gum required to obtain a net weight of 100 grams is 32% lower than with an instant acacia gum, bringing additional carbon reductions in packaging, freight, storage and waste.

GELATIN SUBSTITUTION WITH SYNDEO® GELLING

Finding plant-based substitutes to non-vegan gelling agents  can be a challenge if you’re looking for that perfect texture, sensory experience, hardness or resilience. During Food Ingredients Europe, come to our booth and taste vegan samples such as gummies, formulated with Syndeo® Gelling.

Composed of 100% natural and plant-based hydrocolloids and acacia gum, Syndeo® Gelling is ideal to substitute gelatin or other gelling agents in vegan formulations. Syndeo® Gelling offers a choice alternative for vegan candy recipes, mousses and healthy food supplements such as “gummies”. The combination of Syndeo® Gelling ingredients, 100% plant-based hydrocolloids, provides a compromise between gelatin and pectin. While gelatin provides high elasticity and reduced stickiness, pectin helps achieve firmer, stickier textures with little or even no elasticity. Syndeo® Gelling offers both low hardness and higher elasticity than pectin, without creating any stickiness.

Syndeo® Gelling offers a choice alternative for vegan candy recipes and health food supplements. This market, currently booming, is not immune to the quest for healthier products. Alland & Robert focuses on developing gum acacia ranges that have high nutritional value, high fiber content, help improve the nutrition of consumers, lower their glycemic index and have a positive impact on gut health.
Alland & Robert products are designed to answer specific nutrition needs such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, keto, no-gelatin or low-FODMAP diets. Alland & Robert recently announced that gum acacia received the FODMAP-friendly certification. In addition, gum acacia can be used as an ingredient in food formulations to help improve certain aspects that contribute to better nutrition, such as fiber enrichment or sugar and fat content reduction.

In 2025, Alland & Robert obtains the EcoVadis gold medal for the 2nd year in a row

Since 2024, Alland & Robert ranks among the top 5% of companies evaluated by EcoVadis, an renowned global ESG-rating agency.

Alland & Robert is extremely proud to report it has been awarded the EcoVadis gold medal for its CSR performance, for the second year in a row.

Rewarded for its Corporate Social Responsibility management system, Alland & Robert has continuously reinforced its dedication to sustainability since launching its first sustainability report in 2014. The company has since remained committed to reporting on its sustainable practices, with the recent publication of its 2025 report.

Our EcoVadis score places us among the top 5% of companies rated by the platform.

This rating assesses the CSR performance of companies according to four criteria:

Impact of the company’s activities on the environment
Labour and human rights
Business ethics
Sustainable procurement

Our Sustainable Journey to the Ecovadis Gold Medal

Being highly conscious of the social and environmental challenges humanity currently faces, Alland & Robert is working to establish a sustainable supply chain, and undertaking numerous initiatives in favour of an ethical production model.

The company commitments are aligned with its corporate vision:

To achieve this, the company is committed to preserving traditional expertise and supporting the harvest of natural gums and resilient development for local communities. Alland & Robert has prioritized seven of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) put forward by the United Nations:  no poverty, good health and well-being, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and life on land.

We also strongly worked on the necessity of getting the entire supply chain involved in order for our strategy to bear fruit: all our partnership protocols with suppliers include social, ethical and environmental criteria, and our Quality department carries out annual audits and delivers training in best practices. In 2023, Alland & Robert obtained the “Fair For Life” fair trade certification, which is a first for the gum acacia sector, as Alland & Robert is currently the only company to have earned this recognition. .

Alland & Robert’s climate strategy is aligned with the 2015 Paris Agreement, and the company stands to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2025. Among the recent advances, Alland & Robert launched the Beyond Acacia® range of gums, whose carbon footprint has been highly reduced compared to a standard gum acacia.


EcoVadis, a plateform to manage ESG risks, ensure compliance with these issues, as well as achieve CSR objectives.

The EcoVadis assessement is one of the most trusted business sustainability rating. It highlights Alland & Robert commitment to put ambitious sustainability policy and objectives first, and our dedication to hard work in order to implement concrete actions and practices in our company and with our stakeholders.

The EcoVadis rating platform was created to assess CSR performance. It is based on 25 criteria and 4 main themes which are: Environment, Social and Human Rights, Ethics and Responsible Purchasing via an examination of the integration of the principles of sustainable development within the activity of each company.

This methodology is based on international sustainable development standards, in particular the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard. The objective is to set up an effective CSR management system, consisting of policies, actions and results reporting. In order to fully take into account the real impacts of a company, the assessment framework is adapted to each company according to its sector of activity, its size and its geographical location.

As 2025 unfolds, we at Alland & Robert would like to take a moment to reflect on our journey through 2024, a milestone year celebrating 140 years !

Our ambition remains to create value for our stakeholders and future generations, as a responsible & sustainable family business. To achieve this, we constantly strive to improve and innovate. In 2024, this frame of mind has given rise to a clear vision for our future:

Alland & Robert’s Beyond Acacia® range is the fruit of over two years of research and development, with the aim of meeting market expectations and combining environmental exemplarity with technological excellence.

Beyond Acacia® is a unique range of acacia gum with low carbon footprint and high dispersion ability. The range brings high-density granulometry to the table, enabling the creation of an innovative and sustainable range of acacia gum. It allows our clients to positively affect the planet while using a highly technological and expert product.

Technological excellence

The high density granules Beyond Acacia® are manufactured thanks to an innovative process, which makes them highly soluble, energy-saving and easier-to-use. The physical form of the powder and the characteristics of the granules provide an excellent wettability compared to standard gum, which maximizes the efficiency of the dispersion process thanks to quick hydration.

All acacia gum functional properties are preserved : once dissolved, the quality is identical to regular and instant qualities. Alland & Robert is able to meet customers’ expectations by manufacturing all acacia gum qualities as part of the Beyond Acacia® range.

ENVIRONMENTAL EXEMPLARITY

Alland & Robert has priorized the improvement of energy performance during the manufacturing process, which represented the majority of gum acacia emissions. Other emissions were targeted as part of an ambitious action plan.

Beyond Acacia® is the only range with a comprehensive and genuine approach to the reduction of direct and indirect emissions (including scopes 1, 2 and 3 of the Green House Gas Protocol).
All GHG emissions calculations for the Beyond Acacia® range are verified by an independent consulting firm specialized in carbon emissions.
