We care for people and nature, just like you.
Alland & Robert’s company foundation aims to have a positive impact in the countries where we source natural gums.
The Alland Company Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in France, known in French as Fondation d’Entreprise Alland.
Alland & Robert set up the foundation to reinforce its commitment to the environment, sustainability and communities, particularly in regions where natural gums are harvested.
The foundation operates independently from Alland & Robert, supporting causes aligned with the company’s values and mission.
The foundation aims to initiate, support and monitor projects in countries where Alland & Robert operates and particularly in Africa – where most of our gums are sourced.
The foundation focuses on:
- Supporting communities through different projects relating to education, health, infrastructures and women’s empowerment
- Preserving the environment and local biodiversity
These projects draw on our expertise in natural gums and partnerships with local communities. The foundation supports the company’s efforts to implement sustainable practices in the supply chain, including responsible sourcing.
Diving into the Foundation's origins
Since 1884 when Alland & Robert was founded, the company has been sourcing natural gums in Africa.
Former CEO and current foundation president Frédéric Alland regularly visited multiple African countries for more than 35 years, and witnessed first-hand the effects of climate change in recent decades.
It is strategic for Alland & Robert to develop lasting partnerships with local producers, cooperatives and communities. With strong connections to Africa and the desire to help protect the fauna and flora, our company decided to set up and found a foundation, an organization operating independently from Alland & Robert, but supporting causes that are aligned with the company values.
Supporting communities
Alland & Robert’s operates in rural Africa where gum trees grow naturally. In gum harvesting areas in the Sahel, quality of life is increasingly threatened by desertification, drought and limited access to services such as schools, hospitals and water. The Alland Company Foundation focuses on supporting communities living in these areas and contributing to better living and work standards.
Environment preservation
Many gum harvesting areas border the Sahara Desert. These areas are particularly affected by global warming and prone to desertification, due to climate change and trees being cut down for cooking and firewood. The Alland Company Foundation contributes to preserving trees through various initiatives. The aim? Protect acacia and other local trees in their native environment and use their unique properties to tackle desertification and climate change. We also work with the Great Green Wall Project to restore degraded lands and build nature resilience.
