In line with the Paris Agreement, we are committed to a low-carbon strategy to help keep global temperature increases well below 2°C.
Our ambition? Contribute to this transition as a responsible and sustainable family company. Our priority is to create value for stakeholders and generations to come.
As a leading manufacturer of tree exudates, our business is directly linked to nature, and we have a responsibility to protect the environment. The climate crisis we are experiencing today is already having deep impacts in the Sahel, where we source our natural gums.
To tackle this critical situation, we can all do better and more to reduce our environmental impact. To achieve this, we have set up an ambitious plan to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
With nature at the heart of our operations, we want (and need) to shape a lower carbon future for our industry – and far beyond.
What are we doing to reduce our greenhouse emissions ?
Measuring our carbon footprint
We have been voluntarily assessing our carbon footprint since 2010. Each assessment enables us to introduce corrective actions and improvement strategies and monitor environmental indicators.
Since 2020, we have completed our GHG accounting with the support of a certified environmental sustainability consulting firm. We measure our GHG emissions using the internationally recognised ADEME method across all 3 scopes – to take all our activities into account.
Commiting to an ambitious strategy
Calculating our GHG emissions provided the basis to create and prioritise our carbon reduction strategy. In 2020, we implemented a 5-year action plan, engaging all our teams and identifying areas for improvement. Our objective? Reduce all GHG emissions per kilo of manufactured gum by 20% between 2020 and 2025 – in line with the Paris Agreement signed in 2015.
Reducing our emissions
We have adopted a multifaceted approach to reduce emissions including investing in energy-saving equipment, prioritising electricity over gas in our plants and working with suppliers and clients on low-carbon freight options. We also work with French local authorities to implement low-carbon initiatives at our facilities for collaborators, raw materials and finished products.
We strive to engage all our stakeholders and will continue to support reforestation projects to contribute to climate resilience in the Sahel.
