Francisque Alland, a chemist, and Alfred Robert founded the company ALLAND & ROBERT : trading of gum acacia,an ingredient widely used in the textile industry at the time.
In 1940, René Alland bought back all the shares from the Robert family.
At the same time, Alland & Robert starts transforming the product by: crushing it, producing different granulations, and pulverization. Two product lines are developed and dedicated to gum karaya and gum tragacanth.
Bernard Alland began increasing production capacity by building Alland & Robert’s first plant at Port Mort in Normandy.
Frédéric Alland, CEO of Alland&Robert since 1984, has internationalized the company by taking it a step further in terms of sourcing and production processes.
In 2002, the first spray drying tower was built in Port-Mort, followed by a second one in 2007 at the newly acquired production site in Saint-Aubin.
In 2013, Alland&Robert built its third spray drying tower. Alland & Robert is headquartered in Paris and has two facilities in Normandy. In 2015, Alland & Robert has manufactured over 13,000 tons of acacia gum.
A five generation family company, Alland & Robert is nowadays the internationally recognized key player on the gum acacia market.
